- The software: name, version, Windows or Android, and how it receives scan data
- The environment: indoor, outdoor, temperature range, dust or water
- The quantity for the pilot, and the quantity for the roll-out if it succeeds
- The constraint that is actually fixed — price, lead time, certification or compatibility

Which OS does the app need?
Windows, Android or Linux decides the family before anything else. It is also the answer most first emails leave out.
Where does the device live?
Indoors, a freezer, a wash-down line or a forklift. Temperature and sealing narrow the list faster than any specification table.
How many, and how soon?
Five units next week and five hundred next quarter are different conversations — and often different models.
