An ID terminal exists because identity has to be verified where the transaction happens — at a counter, a gate, a hotel desk or a site office — with no fixed network and no desktop. The device carries the ID reader, the fingerprint sensor, the camera and the barcode scanner in one housing so the operator does not juggle three peripherals in front of the customer.

Associates scan shelf-edge labels and price tags, count stock in a back room with no signal, and take payment at a pop-up counter. The device is picked up and put down hundreds of times a shift.
03
