A notebook exists for the engineer who has to run the vendor's own diagnostic software. Half the tools in field service, plant maintenance and vehicle diagnostics are Windows desktop applications with no mobile build. That single constraint rules out a tablet and hands the job to a clamshell with a real keyboard.
