Application

What this model was built to do

An outdoor device exists for the place where the network is thin and the weather is not negotiable — quaysides, yards, mountains, decks, solar farms. The spec sheet leads with ingress, drop and temperature because that is what removes devices from service first.

Metering, inspection and maintenance — application photograph 01

Metering, inspection and maintenance

No Wi-Fi, no desk, gloves on, sun on the screen. The engineer fills a form, photographs the asset plate and syncs hours later — sometimes from a different site. The device is also the camera and the map.

SOFTWARE

Field service management app (ServiceMax, Salesforce FSL, local builds) with offline storage and GPS. Windows-only diagnostic tools are the reason notebooks are still specified here.

Substation, solar farm and utility patrol — application photograph 02

Substation, solar farm and utility patrol

Kilometres of assets, a map, a checklist and a photo per asset. Sunlight readability and GPS accuracy decide whether the inspection record is usable; a long shift decides whether the battery is.

SOFTWARE

Asset inspection app (ArcGIS Collector, IBM Maximo Mobile, utility in-house builds) with offline maps. Confirm the GPS accuracy your form expects.

Deck work, landings and vessel logs — application photograph 03

Deck work, landings and vessel logs

Salt spray, ice slurry, a moving deck and direct sun on a wet screen. Everything that fails on land fails here in a week. Weight matters because it is carried on a belt for a twelve-hour trip.

SOFTWARE

Catch-logging or vessel management app, frequently offline-first with a satellite or coastal radio sync at the end of the trip.

Deployment

Where it deploys — use, markets, bands, preparation

8.68" Android rugged outdoor device, IP68, -20 °C~60 °C — In deployment it is the week-long battery and the real GPS that make it the tool — connectivity is optional, durability is not.

HOW IT IS USED

  • Expedition & trekking: offline topo maps, waypoint logging, week-long battery.
  • Hunting & fishing: silent mode, long-range GPS track, weather-proof carry.
  • Cycling/mountaineering clubs: route guidance and group tracking with the club platform.
  • Drone/UAV ground station: flight planning screen in the field.
  • Android build managed through MDM — the WMS/ERP app ships as a managed package, kiosk-mode locks the device to the workflow app.

MARKETS & WHY

North America / EU

Large outdoor-retail channel; US/EU plug and language sets.

Australia / NZ

High outdoor participation; local warranty partner.

Latin America

Andes/Patagonia expeditions and hunting outfits; ES/PT UI.

Southeast Asia

Jungle/trekking tourism operators; humidity-sealed units.

RADIO & BANDS

Cellular (if fitted)LTE B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28/B40 variant per region
PositioningGPS + BeiDou + GLONASS + Galileo, dual-band option
Short-rangeWi-Fi 2.4/5 GHz · BT 5.x · ANT+ where fitted
BatteryUser-replaceable pack, multi-week standby

WATCH-OUTS

  • Offline maps licensing: we ship with the map engine, the customer supplies map data per country licensing.
  • Battery claims in cold weather: capacity drops below 0 °C — size the spare pack for winter trips.
  • Altimeter/barometer need periodic calibration; app guidance is included.
  • Check the Android security-update window against the project life in the quotation — a 5-year project on a 3-year update SKU leaves a gap.

WHAT TO PREPARE

  • Target country's plug and language set.
  • Map data source (OpenStreetMap custom build or licensed provider).
  • Retail packaging / hanging-card option for the outdoor channel.
  • Accessory plan: carabiner, bike mount, solar panel kit.
  • The worst barcode in the workflow (material, finish, size) — we match the engine, not just the spec sheet.

Bands listed are the default SKUs for each market — final frequency/certification confirmation against the local operator is part of the quotation.

Software fit

What your application needs from the hardware

Read this against your own client before the sample ships — it is the list that decides whether the device works on day one or on the third firmware build.

Environment first
IP68, wide temperature range and glove/wet-screen touch before any software question.
Positioning
GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou accuracy checked against what the inspection form actually requires.
Client software
Android field app with offline maps and photo capture; sync when back in coverage.
Power
Hot-swap or high-capacity battery sized for a full shift away from any socket.

Questions about the BP-T1

Before you order

Stock, configuration, software compatibility and what happens when a unit fails. The answer comes from the person who configured it.

All questions
01Who is behind this site?
Bastion Rugged is the trading front of Bright Alliance Tech Limited, Shenzhen. We design and build rugged mobile hardware — barcode scanning, UHF RFID, NFC, biometric capture — and we sell it to system integrators and solution providers rather than to consumers. The tooling, PCB and antenna work happen with our own engineering team, not through a trading desk.
02Can you supply five units for a pilot?
Yes. A pilot is the normal entry point. We quote single units at sample pricing and support the pilot with spare parts on the same order — a spare battery and a cradle, not a pallet.
03Do the Android units ship with GMS?
Most Android models ship with GMS. For builds where Google services must be absent, we supply a GMS-free firmware on the same hardware — say so at the quotation stage, because it is a firmware decision, not a setting.
04What warranty do you give?
One year as standard, covering the unit and the battery against manufacturing faults. Extended cover and advance-replacement terms are available for fleets — ask for them with the quotation, not after the first failure.
