Field-swappable packs and dock charging keep a shift running.

Application

What this model was built to do

A tablet exists for the job that needs to see something before it can act — a picking list with forty lines, a wiring diagram, a signature, a photo attached to a work order. It is the format for standing work, wall mounts, forklift cradles and vehicle docks, where the operator wants both hands free and the screen readable in daylight.

Goods-in, put-away and picking — application photograph 01

Goods-in, put-away and picking

Pallet labels, location labels and case labels in the same shift — often the same minute. The operator wears gloves, works at reach-truck height, and cannot walk back to a terminal to correct a mis-scan.

SOFTWARE

WMS mobile client (SAP EWM, Manhattan, Blue Yonder) driven by keyboard wedge, DataWedge intent or the vendor SDK. Ask your ISV which output mode the app expects before the sample ships.

Line-side work orders and machine data

The terminal is bolted where the work happens: work-order scan at the station, torque-tool data over RS232, a photo of the defect attached to the order. Coolant, swarf and vibration are the design constraints.

SOFTWARE

MES client (SAP ME, Siemens Opcenter, local MES), often Windows and often with a fixed IP address and a wired NIC. Confirm whether your MES tolerates a touch-only input method.

Metering, inspection and maintenance — application photograph 03

Metering, inspection and maintenance

No Wi-Fi, no desk, gloves on, sun on the screen. The engineer fills a form, photographs the asset plate and syncs hours later — sometimes from a different site. The device is also the camera and the map.

SOFTWARE

Field service management app (ServiceMax, Salesforce FSL, local builds) with offline storage and GPS. Windows-only diagnostic tools are the reason notebooks are still specified here.

Deployment

Where it deploys — use, markets, bands, preparation

10.1" Android 13 rugged tablet · IP65 — In deployment it is the screen the workflow lives on — scan, forms, maps and photos in one device that survives the floor, the van and the weather.

HOW IT IS USED

  • Warehouse dock-to-stock: receiving, putaway, picking and cycle counts, WMS client online all shift.
  • Vehicle-mounted shift: dock in the van or forklift, undock for the walk-around — one device, both jobs.
  • Yard & dock operations: vehicle cradle + external antenna keeps Wi-Fi/LTE alive between buildings.
  • Field service: job cards, parts scanning and signature capture at the customer site.
  • Android build managed through MDM — the WMS/ERP app ships as a managed package, kiosk-mode locks the device to the workflow app.

WATCH-OUTS

  • Wi-Fi channel plans differ per country (5 GHz DFS, 5.8 GHz limits) — tell us the deployment country so the radio profile is set before shipping.
  • Scan engine choice matters: standard 1D/2D imager vs DPM-capable engine for etched/direct-part marks — send us your worst barcode.
  • Cellular variants are factory-set by region — the SIM slot does not make it a global device; confirm bands against the carrier.
  • OS security update window (Android builds) should match the project life — we state the support period in the quotation.
  • Check the Android security-update window against the project life in the quotation — a 5-year project on a 3-year update SKU leaves a gap.

WHAT TO PREPARE

  • Deployment country + carrier (drives the cellular SKU and radio profile).
  • WMS/ERP client details (name, version, scan output mode) so we match the integration.
  • Charging strategy: cradles per shift, spare batteries, vehicle docks.
  • Sample unit for the pilot — a few models in stock for quick sampling; lead time confirmed once the configuration is agreed.
  • 5G SIM plan + written coverage confirmation (SA/NSA) for the sites in scope.

Bands listed are the default SKUs for each market — final frequency/certification confirmation against the local operator is part of the quotation.

Software fit

What your application needs from the hardware

Read this against your own client before the sample ships — it is the list that decides whether the device works on day one or on the third firmware build.

Screen real time
A pick list, a drawing or a signature form needs 10" and up; a scan-and-go task does not.
Client software
Android app, Windows desktop client, or a browser-based WMS in kiosk mode.
Mounting
Vehicle cradle, VESA bracket, wall dock or shoulder strap — decided by where the device sleeps.
Peripherals
2D imager in the bezel or a Bluetooth ring scanner; thermal printer over BT or Wi-Fi.

Questions about the BT-P10

Before you order

Stock, configuration, software compatibility and what happens when a unit fails. The answer comes from the person who configured it.

All questions
01Who is behind this site?
Bastion Rugged is the trading front of Bright Alliance Tech Limited, Shenzhen. We design and build rugged mobile hardware — barcode scanning, UHF RFID, NFC, biometric capture — and we sell it to system integrators and solution providers rather than to consumers. The tooling, PCB and antenna work happen with our own engineering team, not through a trading desk.
02Can you supply five units for a pilot?
Yes. A pilot is the normal entry point. We quote single units at sample pricing and support the pilot with spare parts on the same order — a spare battery and a cradle, not a pallet.
03Do the Android units ship with GMS?
Most Android models ship with GMS. For builds where Google services must be absent, we supply a GMS-free firmware on the same hardware — say so at the quotation stage, because it is a firmware decision, not a setting.
04What warranty do you give?
One year as standard, covering the unit and the battery against manufacturing faults. Extended cover and advance-replacement terms are available for fleets — ask for them with the quotation, not after the first failure.
